Barber Named CCAA Player of the Week for Nation's No. 1
SAN RAMON, Calif. – Producing four points to help the No. 1 UC San Diego Tritons stay undefeated on the year, senior Megumi Barber has been selected as CCAA Player of the Week for Sept. 24-30.
Barber, a forward from San Diego, produced a goal and two assists as the nation’s top team won a pair of home games to improve to 9-0-1 overall and 4-0 in CCAA play.
She provided the final pass on fellow senior starting forward Mary Reilly's 13th-minute opener in Friday's 2-1 victory over No. 24 Sonoma State. Barber then had a career-high three points in Sunday's 3-1 win over Humboldt State, as her corner kick led to Natalie Saddic's 12th-minute opener, with her 84th-minute tally serving as the clincher. This is Barber’s first career nod for CCAA Player of the Week.
Next up, the Tritons travel to Southland foe Cal State San Marcos Wednesday at 3 p.m., before heading to San Francisco State for a Sunday afternoon matchup against the Gators.
