SAN RAMON, Calif. – Chico State senior Karlie Garcia shined for Chico State in her season debut en route to CCAA Runner of the Week for Oct. 8-14.

The Roseville native finished fourth overall at the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational, covering the six-kilometer course in 20:14.7. She was bested by three Division I foes, trailing only a pair from UTEP and a runner from Oregon State.

Garcia’s time was the best by a Chico State runner on the 6K Baylands course in program history, breaking the previous mark by more than a minute. Her strong performance helped the No. 7 Wildcats to 189 points and a fifth-place team finish.

Chico State races for the final time before the 2018 CCAA Championships on Saturday at the Triton Classic in La Jolla.
