SAN RAMON, Calif. — After leading the Toros to an overtime victory, Cal State Dominguez Hills redshirt freshman Malcolm Johnson has been named California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Player of the Week for Jan. 1-7.

The Bakersfield native paced the Toros with 30 points on 10-of-14 shooting, along with 15 rebounds and four assists in a 93-90 road win at Cal State LA on Saturday. The double-double is his sixth of the season.

Perhaps his biggest play of the night came with seven seconds remaining in regulation as Johnson’s five-five hook shot found the bottom of the net to knot the score at 80 and force overtime.

Next up for Johnson and the Toros is a home weekend against foes from the north. Cal State Dominguez Hills hosts San Francisco State on Friday, followed with a Saturday contest against Sonoma State. Both games are slated to tip at 7:30 p.m.
