Whitney Branham Earns Second CCAA Player of the Week Nod of the Season Jan 2, 2018 SAN RAMON, Calif. — California Collegiate Athletic Association leading scorer Whitney Branham powered Chico State to two victories en route to collecting CCAA Player of the Week for Dec. 25-31. This is the second weekly honor of the 2017-18 season for the senior from West Ranch. Branham posted averages of 21.0 points and 5.5 rebounds with a perfect 13-for-13 effort from the line in a pair of wins over Cal State LA and Cal State Dominguez Hills to close the book on 2017. Friday against Cal State LA, Branham hit four three-pointers on the way to a 16-point night for the Wildcats. She followed it up with a game-high 26 point outing on 50.0 percent shooting in a 74-57 win over the Toros, including swishing all 11 of her free throw attempts in Chico State’s third-straight victory. Branham heads into the New Year as the CCAA’s top scorer, averaging 20.0 points per game. She also leads the conference in free throw percentage (93.2 percent) and 3-point field goals per game (2.8). Her free throw percentage currently stands as ninth-best in NCAA Division II. The Wildcats travel to Southern California next week, taking on Cal State San Marcos Friday and CCAA-leading UC San Diego on Saturday.
