Morgan Greene Repeats as CCAA Player of the Week

SAN RAMON, Calif. — Leaping for a career-high 24 rebounds in Friday’s victory, Cal State East Bay sophomore Morgan Greene is repeating as California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Player of the Week for Jan. 8-14. With back-to-back accolades, this is the second weekly award for the Phoenix native.

Greene posted averages of 16.0 points on 60.0 percent shooting and 16.5 rebounds over the weekend as the Pioneers split their home weekend with Cal State San Marcos and UC San Diego. Greene’s career-best rebounding mark came in a 67-63 overtime victory over the Cougars on Friday, where Greene also contributed 19 points. She followed up her double-double performance with 13 points and nine rebounds as the Tritons escaped Hayward with a 76-70 victory to remain undefeated in league play.

Greene's Friday rebound tally is the fourth-best total on the year, only following Concord's Riley Fitzwater (26), Laney Lewis of Ursuline (26) and East Bay teammate Savannah McGill (25). Greene holds the CCAA-best and third highest rebounding average in the nation (12.7 rpg).

Next, Greene and the Pioneers travel to Bay Area foes San Francisco State on Friday, followed by a date with Sonoma State on Saturday. Both contests are slated to tip at 5:30 p.m.
