Ethan Alvano Scores CCAA Player of the Week Nod

SAN RAMON, Calif. — Complete with a game-winning shot, Ethan Alvano propelled Cal State San Marcos to a pair of victories en route to California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Player of the Week for Jan. 8-14. This marks the fifth career player of the week nod for the senior from Corona.

Playing in all 80 minutes of the action for the Cougars, Alvano averaged 32.0 points, 5.5 assists and 4.0 rebounds per game in a road weekend.

On Friday, he scored a team-high 26 points and helped complete a 21-point comeback over Cal State East Bay. He followed up his team-leading performance with a game-high 38 points and eight assists at Cal State Monterey Bay. Alvano swished the game-winning three against the Otters with just .03 seconds remaining in regulation for the 84-81 victory.

This is his fourth game of the season with at least 30 points to his credit. Alvano currently leads the CCAA in points per game (21.8), field goal percentage (49.8), assists per game (6.6), assist-to-turnover ratio (2.50), steals per game (2.75) and minutes per game (34:18).

The Cougars play one game this week, hosting Stanislaus State on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
