Gators' Matthew Hernandez and Golden Eagles' Jorge Garcia Named CCAA Baseball Pitcher and Player of the Week
SAN RAMON – San Francisco State junior Matthew Hernandez and Cal State LA junior Jorge Garcia were named the California Collegiate Athletic Association Baseball Pitcher and Player of the Week, respectively, for the week of Apr. 24-30.
CCAA Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Hernandez, a right-hander from Fort Bragg just needed 98 pitches to secure a complete-game 4-0 shutout in game one of a three game series with Cal State Dominguez Hills.
He limited the Toros to just three hits and hit two batters, while also totaling eight strikeouts.

CCAA Baseball Player of the Week
Garcia was instrumental in helping CSULA to a 3-1 series win over No. 12 ranked UC San Diego and to the program's fifth berth to the CCAA postseason tournament.
The El Cajon product went 8-for-15 (.533) and compiled a 1.200 slugging percentage with three home runs and a double. He also totaled four runs and seven RBI, while only striking out once in 16 plate appearances.
His weekend was highlighted in Saturday's doubleheader as he went four-for-eight with three runs, five RBI, and three home runs. In game one he hit two home runs to help the Golden Eagles to a 9-4 win. Then in the nightcap, Garcia hit the go-ahead home run in the seventh to hep secure the 2-1 victory.
Defensively, Garcia was flawless with 36 putouts and three assists.
