Chico State's Alex Burkhart and Humboldt State's Marissa McKay Named CCAA Women's Track and Field Athletes of the Week

SAN RAMON – Chico State's Alex Burkhart and Humboldt State's Marissa McCay were selected the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Women's Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for the week of Apr. 3-9.


CCAA Women's Track Athlete of the Week

Burkhart, a junior from Rancho Cucamongo, notched a personal best time and an NCAA provisional qualifying mark, while also breaking into the Chico State record books with her first place finish in the 5,000-meter run Friday at the Chico Distance Carnival.

Burkhart won the event by nearly 36 second, stopping the clok at 16:48.30.

CCAA Women's Field Athlete of the Week

McCay earned an NCAA provisional qualifying mark and finished first in the Long Jump at the Chico State Twilight meet last Friday night.

The McKinleyville product also moved into third on the Lumberjacks' All-Time list with her leap 5.76 meters.
