CSUSM's Taylor Ahearn and UCSD's Keenan Brigman Named CCAA Baseball Pitcher and Player of the Week
SAN RAMON – Cal State San Marcos' senior Taylor Ahearn and UC San Diego freshman Keenan Brigman were named the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Baseball Pitcher and Player of the Week, respectively, for the week of Apr. 3-9.
CCAA Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Ahearn, a right-hander from Santee, achieved something quite rare for a starting pitcher as he snagged two victories in Cougars' 2-1 series win over Stanislaus State last weekend.
The Cougars' ace snagged a win in relief in the 7-2 series opener against the Warriors. In that game he tossed 1.1 innings of hitless ball, striking out two of the three batters he faced.
Then in Sunday's double-header opener Ahearn improved to 6-5 on the season after throwing his second complete-game shutout on the season. In the nine innings he allowed just nine hits, while striking out six.

CCAA Baseball Player of the Week
Brigman played a huge role in No. 7 UC San Diego's come-from-behind 2-1 series victory over top-ranked Chico State.
The redshirt freshman from San Jose only needed two hits to collect a team-best five RBI. Brigman, who started in left field in Saturday's doubleheader nightcap laced a two-run single to round out the Tritons' five run first inning that spurred UCSD to a 7-0 shutout triumph.
Then on Sunday, Brigman connected for a two-out pinch-hit triple inside the right field line to turn a 3-2 deficit into a 5-3 advantage. UCSD went on to win the series finale, 6-4.
Overall Brigman was two-for-six (.333), which included the one extra base hit and five RBI.
