Chico State's Taylor Sack and Humboldt State's Alyssabeth Dejerez Named CCAA Women's Track and Field Athletes of the Week

SAN RAMON – Humboldt State senior Alyssabeth Dejerez and Chico State senior Taylor Sack were named the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Women's Track Athlete and Field Athlete of the Week, respectively, for the week of Mar. 13-19.


CCAA Women's Track Athlete of the Week

Dejerez won the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 58.84 at the Sacramento State-hosted Hornet Invitational en route to automatically qualfying for the 2017 Men's and Women's Track and Field Championships in Bradenton, Fla.

The Bonita native improved her HSU all-time record and currently holds the top Division II 400-meter hurdles time.

CCAA Women's Field Athlete of the Week

Sack, an Agoura Hills product, earned an NCAA provisional qualifying mark and established a new personal best in the pole vault during Saturday's Hornet Invitational in Sacramento.

Sack finished third overall, behind two Division I jumpers, with a height of 12 feet, 11.5 inches. She also recorded a finish of 14th in the javelin with a throw of 117-06.
