SAN RAMON, Calif. — Swishing his second game-winning bucket in the 2017-18 campaign, Cal State Dominguez Hills senior Jonathan Nichols has been selected as the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Player of the Week for Dec. 18-24.

The senior from Harbor City connected on a jumper with  3.7 seconds remaining in the Toros’ contest against UC San Diego last Tuesday for the 63-65 come from behind victory.

The Toros trailed by a dozen nearly halfway through the final period before closing on a 23-9 run to top the Titons, capped by Nichols’ final basket. Nichols has put together a string of seven games of double-digit scoring and is currently shooting 39 percent from the field. The clinching shot is the second of the season for Nichols, who poured in the game-winner against Dominican in Cal State Dominguez Hills’ home opener on Nov. 14.

The Toros hit the road after the NCAA Winter Break period concludes, taking on Humboldt State on Friday at 7:30 p.m., and traveling to Chico for a New Year’s Eve showdown.
