Jahvon Johnson Nets CCAA Player of the Week Dec 12, 2017 SAN RAMON, Calif. — Jahvon Johnson’s career night for Cal State Monterey Bay propelled the Otters to an upset and Johnson to California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Player of the Week for Dec. 4-10. The sophomore from Fresno scored a career-high 23 points to lead Cal State Monterey Bay to a 78-76 upset at the home of the defending CCAA champions. The Otters took down UC San Diego 78-76 in an overtime thriller in La Jolla, due in no small part to Johnson’s timely baskets. Highlighting his game against the Tritons, Johnson scored a driving layup to force overtime with less than 30 seconds to play in regulation. Another drive to the basket broke the 76-76 tie with 30 to play in the overtime period and eventually seal the win for the Otters. Along with Johnson’s 23 points on .500 shooting, he added nine rebounds and five assists in Cal State Monterey Bay’s lone contest of the week.
