Garrett Carter Earns CCAA Player of the Week Nod Nov 21, 2017 SAN RAMON, Calif. — Cal State LA sophomore Garrett Carter came up in the clutch for the Golden Eagles to shoot his team to three victories and earn his first nod as California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Player of the Week, for Nov. 13-19. Carter started the week by swishing the game-winning three with eight seconds to go in a 77-75 victory over Dixie State on Monday. In Friday’s contest against Cal State Monterey Bay, he continued his hot shooting from beyond the arc, where he set this single-game program record for three-pointers in a game on 8-for-10 shooting from distance. Carter’s 28 points is a career high for the sophomore from Rialto. He capped the weekend’s action with 10 points, seven assists and three rebounds in a victory over Cal State East Bay. Carter averaged 18.0 points, 4.0 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game during the three-game span, connecting on 19-of-31 attempts from the field and hitting 13 triples for the week. Ranked ninth in the latest regional poll after a 4-1 start to the season, the Golden Eagles face non-conference foes Bethesda (Nov. 21) and Concordia-Portland (Nov. 25) in this week’s action.
