Ella Verhees Chosen as CCAA Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week Oct 10, 2017 SAN RAMON, Calif. - Racing to the front of the pack at the Triton Classic, Ella Verhees has been chosen as the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Runner of the Week for Oct. 2-8. Verhees, a San Diego native and senior for the Tritons, turned in her fastest time of the season to earn the individual victory at the 25th annual Triton Classic racing to the finish in 22:8.39. She recorded her fourth-consecutive top team finish, and it was the third time this season Verhees placed in the top-10 overall individually. Behind Verhees, the Tritons earned second place as a team with 58 points. UC San Diego will now turn its attention to the CCAA Championships on Oct. 21 in Turlock, Calf.
