Chico State's McFerren and UC San Diego's MacLeod Named CCAA Basketball Players of the Week
SAN RAMON – Chico State junior Jalen McFerren and UC San Diego senior Cassie MacLeod earned their third and second Caliornia Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Player of the Week honor, respectively, after leading their teams to a perfect 2-0 weekend.
Men's Basketball Player of the Week
A point guard from Oakland, McFerren averaged 16.5 pionts, nine rebounds, and three assists per game while leading the Wildcats into sole possession of first place in the CCAA standings with a pair of home victories last weekend.
McFerren led the weekend off with a career-best 24 point effort, while also grabbing nine rebounds and dishing out two assists as the Wildcats downed Cal State San Bernardino 87-70 Friday night. McFerren shot 64 percent (7-for-11) from the field, 50 percent (3-for-6) from beyond the arc and finished seven-for-seven from the charity stripe.
Then on Saturday, he had nine points, nine rebounds, and four assists as Chico State came from behind to beat UC San Diego (69-64) in a clash between the two teams tied for first in the Conference standings.
Overall, McFerren finished nine-for-16 from the field and was a perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line.

Women's Basketball Player of the Week
MacLeod, a forward from Agoura Hills, helped the Tritons earn their 11th and 12th straight victories on the road last weekend at Stanislaus State (68-55) and Chico State (68-48).
MacLeod recorded a double-double with a game-high 19 points and 10 rebounds against Stanislaus State, who opened the weekend at second in the CCAA standings. Against the Warriors, she shot 64 percent from the field (7-for-11), which including making 2-of-3 from beyond the arc and 3-of-4 attempts from the free throw line.
Saturday against the Wildcats MacLeod shot 60 percent (6-for-10), picking up 13 points, while also snagging nine rebounds and two steals.
On the weekend, MacLeod averaged 16 points, 9.5 rebounds, two assists, while also totaling two blocks and two steals.
