Cal State LA's Da'Jah Jackson and Cal State San Marcos' Ethan Alvano Named CCAA Players of the Week
SAN RAMON – Cal State LA freshman Da'Jah Jackson and Cal State San Marcos junior Ethan Alvano snagged their first ever California Collegiate Athletic Association Women's and Men's Basketball Players of the Week awards, respectively, for the week of Jan. 2-8.
Women's Basketball Player of the Week
Jackson led the short-handed Golden Eagles toa pair of home wins, including a 68-57 win against San Francisco State and a narrow 51-48 victory over Cal Poly Pomona.
The Long Beach product averaged 21 points four assists and 1.5 steals.
Thursday against the Gators Jackson was seven-for-15 from the field and eight-for-nine from the free throw line for 24 points. She also dished out a weekend-best five assists. Then in Saturday's battle for second place in the CCAA standings Jackson totaled 18 points, including a go-ahead three-pointer with just 1:07 remaining in the fourth quarter, while also totaling three assists and two steals.

Men's Basketball Player of the Week
Alvano averaged 25 points, six rebounds, and 5.5 assists to lead the Cougars to a weekend sweep on the road, including a 109-108 double overtime victory at Cal State East Bay and a 77-66 win at Cal State Monterey Bay.
The Corona native opened weekend play with a season-high 36 points on 11-for-22 shooting from the field and 11-for-13 shooting from the charity stripe. He also pulled down four rebounds and dished out four assists.
Saturday against the Otters, Alvano amassed 14 points, while also totaling weekend-highs of seven rebounds and seven assists.
