CPP's Michael Koval and UCSD's JD Hearn Earn CCAA Baseball Pitcher and Player of the Week Honors
SAN RAMON – Cal Poly Pomona's Michael Koval and UC San Diego's JD Hearn were named the California Collegiate Athletic Association Baseball Pitcher and Player of the Week, respectively, for the week of Apr. 11-17.
CCAA Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Koval had another stellar week on the mound for the Broncos, limiting a tough Chico State lineup to just a .115 average en route to a CPP victory Saturday afternoon and snaggin his second Pitcher of the Week nod on the season.
The Alta Loma product improved to 6-2 on the season after tossing eight innings of one-run ball, while allowing just three hits and striking out four Wildcat batters.

CCAA Baseball Player of the Week
A junior infielder from Campbell, Hearn led UC San Diego offensively to a three-game sweep of San Francisco State.
Hearn compiled .643 (9-for-14) average and a .929 slugging percentage with five runs, two doubles, a triple, four RBI, and 13 total bases. He also walked once and had two stolen bases.
He was also outstanding in the field, securing five putouts and nine assists in 14 total defensive chances.
Hearn totaled three three-hit games in the trio of narrow one-run triumphs over the Gators. In both ends of Saturday's doubleheader, he was three-for-five with two doubles and a triple making the haul in game one, while in the nightcap he producted an RBI triple in the third and a two-run double in the fourth in the 6-5 nightcap victory.
Finally on Sunday, Hearn crossed the plate with UCSD's last two runs, notching leadoff singles in the sixth and eighth before coming around to give the Tritons edges of 2-1 and 3-2.
