Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Week

Alyssabeth DeJerez, a sprinter from Bonita, re-wrote the Lumberjacks women's track and field record book this last weekend after competing in a trio of Southern California meets this past weekend.

DeJerez opened her week placing first overall in the 400-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 59.23 at the Cal State LA Twilight Open. The time currently ranks second in the nation and is just one-of-three Division II times clocking in under a minute.

She was even more impressive at the 58th Annual Mt. SAC relays, where she shattered a decade-old program record in the 400-meter dash. She now holds the school record in the event and has provisionally qualified for the Division II Track and Field Championships with a time 54.40.

DeJerez capped her weekend posting with Humboldt State's second fastest 200-meter dash time in history with a section-winning 24.94 time in the Cal State Long Beach-hosted Beach Invitational's 400-meter dash.
