UC San Diego Sweeps Weekly Track & Field Awards
San Ramon – UC San Diego has swept the California Collegiate Athletic Associaton Men's and Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Week awards for the second time this season, with sophomore Matt Bowen and senior Chrissi Carr earning the honor for the week of Feb. 29-Mar. 6.
Men's Track and Field Athlete of the Week
Bowen, a sophomore from Fresno, took first in the long jump and triple jump at the All-UC Championship, scoring 14 points to help the Tritons to a first-place finish, just ahead of second place UC Santa Barbara with a score of 143-141.
He won the long jump with a provisional qualifying, program-record breaking, personal-best mark of 25 feet and 0.5 inches. That mark also ranks first nationally among all three Divisions. Bownen also took first in the triple jump with a distance of 48 feet, 4.75 inches.

Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Week
Triton senior, Carr won the pole vault at the All-UC Championships and in addition improved her provisional qualifying mark with a clearance of 12 feet.
Her mark helped UCSD take second in the three-team field, finishing behind UC Santa Barbara and ahead of UC Irvine with a team total of 123 points.
