All CCAA teams take a week off before Stanislaus State, Cal State East Bay, and Cal State Monterey Bay hit the links for the Mustang Intercollegiate, hosted by Western New Mexico at Palm Valley Golf Course in Goodyear, Arizona.
Last Outing
Chico State captured its fourth tournament of the year, finishing six strokes in front of second-place Cal State Monterey Bay at the 66th Annual SoCal Intercollegiate at Carlton Oaks Golf Course in San Diego…the Wildcats made up eight strokes on the east day to overtake the Otters for the title…Sonoma State finished third, 19 strokes back…individually, Lee Gearhart of Chico State and Christopher Pham of Cal State Dominguez Hills tied for first with a score of 2-over-par 218…meanwhile, at the Cal Baptist Invitational, Cal State San Marcos finished sixth in the 19-team field; Dylan Healey was the Cougars’ top finisher (6t, +1).

In the latest GolfStat poll (3/22/2016), Chico State has held on to its top ranking, with West Florida second and St. Leo third…St. Leo second…Cal Stat Monterey Bay is 8th, Cal State San Marcos 14th, and Sonoma State 25th.
The current GCAA Coaches’ Poll (3/11/2016) shows Chico State ranked second nationally with 10 first-place votes and 456 points, trailing only first-place Saint Leo (6 first-place votes and 457 points). Cal State Monterey Bay ranks 8th (316), Cal State San Marcos is 19th (81), and Sonoma State (25). Cal State San Bernardino, Cal State East Bay, and Stanislaus State also received votes.

Chico State senior Lee Gearhart won his third tournament in the last four weeks at the SoCal Intercollegiate Tournamentand picked up his third Player of the Week award this year…he’s compiling some tremendous statistics this season and currently ranks second (71.91) behind teammate Alistair Docherty (71.78) in stroke average…the two-time CCAA Golfer of the Year has now won six events in his college career to tie two-time NCAA Champion J.J. Jakovac for second place on Chico State’s career wins list, just one behind 2011 NCAA Champion Kyle Souza.

Championships at Silverado
The CCAA Men’s Golf Championships will take place at the historic Silverado Resort and Spa in Napa, April 18-20. The event will begin with 36 holes of stroke play on Monday, April 18 on the North Course. Stroke play will determine the Conference's individual champion and the four highest-finishing teams will advance to medal match play on Tuesday, April 19. The team championship will be determined by medal match play on Wednesday, April 20. The CCAA's team champion is the Conference's automatic qualifier for the NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships.
