LA's Joshua Munzon Tabbed CCAA Men's Basketball Player of the Week
SAN RAMON – Cal State LA senior Joshua Munzon earned his first-ever California Collegiate Athletic Association Men's Basketball Player of the Week award after helping the Golden Eagles to a post-season tournament clinching win over Stanislaus State on Thursday night and an upset victory over CCAA Regular-Season Champion Chico State to close out regular-season play.
The guard from Compton had a steady game to lead off the final weekend of CCAA play, totaling sevn points, four assists, three steals, three blocked shots, and three rebounds to help LA sneak out a 68-62 win over the Warriors.
Saturday night, Munzon scored a team-high 21 points, which included a key three-point play with just two minutes left in regulation and a long three-pointer with 41 seconds remaining to to lead the Golden Eagles to a one-point (65-64) upset of Chico State. He was eight of 14 from the floor, including four-of-eight from the arch, while also recording six rebounds, two steals, and two assists on the night.
