Chico State Track and Field Athletes Sweep Weekly Awards
San Ramon – Chico State's Aaron Martin and Brooke Whitburn were named the California Collegiate Athletic Association Men's and Women's Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for the week of Feb. 22-28.

Competing for the first time as a Wildcat, Martin posted and NCAA Championships Automatic Qualifying mark in the decathlon at the 31st Annual Chico Multi Event Classic on Friday.
Martin posted a huge PR with 7,311 points to easily eclipse the auto standard of 7,100 and position himself among early favorites fo the NCAA Division II title.
The transfer from Cerritos Community College posted personal records in five of 10 events -- including in the high jump (1.95m), long jump (7.14m), and 400 meters (00:52).
Brooke Whitburn, Chico State
(Jr., Chico, Calif.)
Whitburn, a junior from Chico, notched an NCAA Provisional Qualifying mark by scoring a personal best 4,787 points to finish first in the heptathlon at the 31st Annual Chico Multi Event Classic.
Whitburn won two of seven events, finishing first in the shot put (37 feet, 1.25 inches) and the long jump (18 feet, 1.75 inches). She was second in the 100-meter hurdles (15.40s) and the javelin (119 feet, 1 inch) while placing third in the high jump (5 feet, 2.25 inches) and 200-meter dash (26.81s).
