Stanislaus' Voumard and East Bay's Navarro Tabbed Baseball Pitcher & Player of the Week

SAN RAMON – Stanislaus State junior Nick Voumard and Cal State East Bay senior Rudy Navarro were selected the California Collegiate Athletic Association Baseball Pitcher and Player of the Week, respectively, for the week of Feb. 15-21.


CCAA Baseball Pitcher of the Week

Voumard made two appearances for the Warriors last week against Fresno Pacific and CCAA-foe Cal State Monterey Bay.

He was dominant in Saturday's win over the previously-unbeaten Otters as the Warriors ralled from an 8-0 deficit to defeat CSUMB 10-9. In a scheduled relief appearance, Voumard entered the game earlier than expected, tossing seven innings with just one unearned run allowed on four hits.  

CSUMB, which had scored eight runs on nine hits in the first three innings were completely shut down the final three innings of the game with Voumard retiring the final nine-of-10 batters faced.

CCAA Baseball Player of the Week

Navarro, a senior from Corcoran had his second-straight monstor weekend for Pioneers, leading Cal State East Bay to a four-game sweep of Fresno Pacific last weekend.

Navarro batted .500 (six-for-12), while also reaching base 10 times in his 18 plate appearances for a .579 on-base percentage. His weekend was highlighted by his first two performances of the four-game series, reaching base nine times, scoring four times, while also totaling eight RBI.

For the week, he tallied three doubles, four walks, six runs, and 10 RBI.
