UC San Diego Sweeps Weekly CCAA Track and Field Awards
SAN RAMON – UC San Diego's Paul Doan and Haley Libuit were named this season's first California Collegiate Athletic Associaton Men's and Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Week awards, respectively, for the week of Feb. 15-21.
CCAA Men's Track and Field Athlete of the Week
Doan, a sophomore from San Diego, won two individual races and aided in a relay team victory at the Pomona-Pitzer Collegiate All-Comers meed last weekend.
The sprinter ran two personal-best times of 10.65 in the 100-meter dash and 21.51 in the 200-meter dash. He then anchored the Tritons' 4x100 relay team that crossed the finish line in first with its program record-breaking and provisiona of 41.04.
CCAA Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Week
Senior from Los Altos Hills, Libuit grabbed a provisional qualifier in her first meet of the season with her 135 foot, three inch throw in the Javelin Saturday.
Libuit also took fifth overall in shot put with a throw of 38'-6.26".
