Pioneers' Tori Breshers Earns Third CCAA Player of the Week Nod
SAN RAMON – Cal State East Bay senior forward Tori Breshers was named the California Collegiate Athletic Association Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the third time this season after leading the Pioneers to another 2-0 weekend, which included decisive victories over Cal State Monterey Bay and Cal State San Marcos.
For the weekend, Breshers shot 50 percent from the field and went seven-for-eight from the free throw line for an average of 14.5 points per game, while also averaging 10.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game.
The Gardena native was outstanding defensively in both wins, totaling 21 boards, five blocks, and two steals, helping her team hold their opponents to 40 points or less.
Offensively, Breshers was also East Bay's best offensive player, eanring her a spot in the school record books. Thursday, against the Cougars, she posted her third double-double of the season with 20 points. The final basket that night brought the four-year senior's career point total to 1.211, which broke a 28-year old record, making her the program's all-time leading scorer.
