East Bay's Jalen Richard and San Diego's Cassie MacLeod Tabbed CCAA Basketball Players of the Week
SAN RAMON – Cal State East Bay senior guard Jalen Richard and UC San Diego senior forward Cassie MacLeod led their respective squads a 2-0 week en route to earning the Califoria Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Basketball Players of the Week honors for the week of Dec. 12-19.
Men's Basketball Player of the Week
Richard had a monster week that led the Pioneers to a 78-69 road win over Cal Poly Pomona on Thursday and a narrow 86-86 home victory against Cal State LA Monday night to improve the Pioneers overall record to 9-2, a program's best start since joining the CCAA in 2009.
Against the Broncos, Richard went 7-for-12 from the floor, which included a five-for-eight effort from three-point range, to lead all scorers with 23 points. He also dished out four assists and grabbed two steals, while committing just one turnover.
In Monday's high scoring game against the Golden Eagles, Richard was one of five CSUEB players in double figures. He scored 16 points, while leading his team with seven rebounds and five assist.
Over two games, Richard averaged 19.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 1.5 steals.

Women's Basketball Player of the Week
MacLeod averaged 20.5 points, four rebounds, and an assist per game as the Tritons snagged two dominating victories against Cal State San Bernardino and Cal State Dominguez Hills.
In Friday's 82-48 win over the Coyotes MacLeod shot 90 percent on 9-for-10 shooting from the floor for a game-high 20 points and pulled down three rebounds in just 14 minutes of play.
Then on Monday, MacLeod scored a team-best 21 points and had weekend bests of five rebounds and two assists to guide UCSD to an 82-64 decision against the Toros.
On the weekend, the Agoura Hills product shot 18-for-25 from the field for a 72 percent field goal percentage and was four-for-four from the free throw line. She also totaled eight rebounds, and two assists in just 37 minutes of work.
