TURLOCK  — Regular-season Champion UC San Diego became the first program to finish Conference play with an unblemished record since 1998 en route to placing a Conference-best 9 players on the 2016 All-Conference Women’s Soccer teams, it was announced Thursday night at the pre-Tournament banquet at Stanislaus State.

Cal Poly Pomona and Sonoma State followed with three All-Conference selections, while Cal State San Bernardino and Stanislaus State placed two on this year’s teams.

UCSD made up a majority of this year’s First Team, with seven total selections, including goalkeeper Itzel Gonzalez, forward Katie O’Laughlin, forward Mary Reilly, midfielder Kiera Bocchino, midfielder Jordyn McNutt, defender Meghan Berry, and defender Makenzie Brito. Cal State San Bernardino forward Rachael Figg, Sonoma State midfielder Miriam Bloom, Chico State’s Lindsey Dias, and Cal State LA’s Danielle Telles rounded out the First Team.

The Broncos’ three selections — forward Sydney Yates, midfielder Lauren Miller, defender Natalie Di Angelo — all received Second-Team honors. Others named to the Second Team were Cal State San Bernardino goalkeeper Megan Vina, Stanislaus State forward Jade Poon, Sonoma State forward Sara Van Wagoner, UC San Diego midfielders Jamie Benedetto and Natalie Saddic, Stanislaus State midfielder Gabby Squarcia, San Francisco State defender Laura Shea, and Sonoma State defender Cecilia Sifuentes.

Tritons’ O’Laughlin and Berry were selected the Conference’s Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year, respectively, while the Coyotes’ Figg was voted this year’s Newcomer of the Year and the Warriors’ Rayana Plancarte the Freshman of the Year. UC San Diego head coach Brian McManus was named CCAA Coach of the Year.

O’Laughlin and Berry led the Tritons to an outstanding season, which included a 16-2 overall record and a perfect 12-0 record in CCAA play. O’Laughlin led the Conference with 38 points (2.11 per game), 15 goals with six game winners, and ranked second with eight assists. She contributed offensively in 13 of the Tritons’ 18 matches.

Berry shined on the other end of the field, leading the Triton’ back line that held their opponents to just seven goals, with just two allowed in Conference play.

In her first season with the Coyotes, Figg led her squad to just its third CCAA postseason berth in program history. She compiled a team-best 13 points after scoring six goals and dishing out one assist on the season. Plancarte, also had a stellar first season, contributing offensively with three goals and one assist for a total of seven points.

McManus, who improved his overall record to a phenomenal 481-87-51, has guided his team to a program-best win percentage (.889) — its best since winning the 2001 national championship.
