UC San Diego's Taylor Tanita and Humboldt State's Tyras Rattler Jr. Earn CCAA Player of the Week Honors
SAN RAMON – UC San Diego's Taylor Tanita and Humboldt State's Tyras Rattler Jr. were named the California Collegiate Athletic Association Women's and Men's Basketball Players of the Week, respectively, for the week of Nov. 21-27.
Women's Basketball Player of the Week
Tanita earns her snagged her second Confernce honor of the season after averaging 17 points, six assists, and five rebounds in the Tritons two victories against Saginaw Valley and Azusa Pacific.
The junior from Culver City was named the Most Valuable Player at the annual UCSD Thanksgiving Classic after leading all players in assists (12) and made free throws (14) and ranking second in points (34).
Tanita led the weekend off with a 20 point, five assist effort that handed Saginaw Valley its first and only loss of the season. The following night against the Cougars she scored 14 points, dished out seven assists, and pulled down six rebounds to help the Tritons to an improved record of 4-2.

Men's Basketball Player of the Week
Rattler averaged 20 points, six rebounds, 2.3 steals, and two assists last week as Humboldt State improved to 6-1 and extended its winning streak to six straight with its victories over Simpson (Calif.), Dominican (Calif.), and CCAA-foe Cal State San Marcos.
Monday against Simpson, Rattler scored 19 points and snagged six rebounds. Then on Wednesday scored a career-best 29 points on seven-of-14 shooting from the field, which included three made shots from three point range, and 12-of-14 shooting from the free throw line.
In Saturday's CCAA opener, the sophomore from Oakland had another double-digit scoring night, scoring 12 points, while also totaling seven rebounds, three assists, and three steals.
