UCSD's Adam Klie and Taylor Tanita Snag CCAA's First Player of the Week Honors
SAN RAMON – UC San Diego senior Adam Klie and junior Taylor Tanita were tabbed the California Collegiate Athletic Association Men's and Women's Basketball Players of the Week, respectively, for the week of Nov. 7-13.
Men's Basketball Player of the Week
Klie, a guard from Anchorage, Alaska was named the CCAA/PacWest Challenge Most Valuable Player after leading the Tritons to a 2-0 opening weekend with wins against Dixie State and Azusa Pacific.
He led his team with 36 points, 11 assists, and two blocks and was second with 13 boards on the weekend. Klie's weekend was highlighted by his performance against the defending PacWest Regular-Season Champion Cougars, knocking down nine shots from the field, dishing out seven assists. On defense he totaled five rebounds and two steals.
On the weekend, Klie shot 54 percent from the field with an average of 18 points per game. He also averaged 6.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists in 70 total minutes played.

Women's Basketball Player of the Week
Tanita, a guard from Culver City, opened the 2016-17 season by averaging 14.5 points, 8.5 assists, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.5 steals, leading the No. 17 Tritons to victories over Montana State-Billings and No. 2 Cal Baptist at the Cal State San Marcos Classic.
She shot 58.8 percent (10-17) from the field, 50 percent (5-10) from behind the arc and made all four attempts from the charity stripe.
Tanita opened tournament play with eight points, eight assists, and six rebounds in Friday's convincing 88-60 win over the Yellowjackets. The following night she was outstanding, scoring 21 points, dishing out eight assists, and sngging six rebounds to help UCSD defeat the PacWest preseason favorite Lancers, 82-74.
