HSU's Rakim Brown Tabbed CCAA Men's Basketball Player of the Week
SAN RAMON – Humboldt State senior Rakim Brown earned his California Collegiate Athletic Assocaition Men's Basketball Player of the Week nod this season, this time for the week of Dec. 28-Jan. 3.
Brown helped the Lumberjacks complete a road sweep of No. 13 UC San Diego and CCAA rival Cal State San Bernardino and move into a four-way tie for first place in the CCAA standings.
The guard from Fresno averaged a double-double with 20.5 points and 12 rebounds.
Brown was stellar in Friday's 82-72 win over the Tritons, scoring 27 points on eight-for-15 shooting from the floor and 11-for-13 shooting from the free throw line. He finished just shy of a double-double after also pulling down nine rebounds.
The following day Brown secured the double-double, his fifth on the season, after snagging 15 boards and chipping in 14 points. He also totaled two steals, a block, and an assist in the three-point (84-81) victory against the Coyotes.
On the weekend, Brown totaled 41 points, 24 rebounds, three blocks, three steals, and an assist.
