WALNUT CREEK — For the second-consecutive year, Cal Poly Pomona forward, Jada Blackwell has earned the California Collegiate Athletic Association’s top honor after being named the Conference’s Player of the Year on Wednesday night at the CCAA’s pre-Championship banquet.

Regular-season co-Champions Cal State Dominguez Hills and Humboldt State, along with Cal State San Bernardino and UC San Diego each had a Conference-high four players selected to the 2015 All-CCAA team. Blackwell, a senior from Rancho Cucamonga highlighted the Broncos three selections, while Cal State East Bay and Cal State Stanislaus named two to this year’s team.

CSUDH led all teams with three first-team, while CPP and HSU had two players placed on the first team. Guards Breanne Garcia, Monay Lee, and Talia Rayford represented the Toros squad, while Lumberjack’s Kersey Wilcox and A’Jaee Foster were also named. Joining Blackwell on the first team from Cal Poly Pomona was senior guard Ariel Marsh.

Cal State East Bay’s Stephanie Lopez and UC San Diego’s Farrah Shokoor rounded out the first team.

Dating back to 1985, Blackwell becomes just the second player in Conference history to snag back-to-back Player of the Year nods. She led the Broncos to their eighth-straight post-season appearance with averages of 18.5 points, 7.1 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.3 steals, and 1.3 blocks per game.

Wildcats’ Branham wrapped up her rookie season with averages of 10.4 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game, with a 36.5 three-point field goal percentage, ranking fourth in the Conference.

Humboldt State head coach Joddie Gleason led the nationally ranked ‘Jacks to an overall record of 23-4 and a school record 19 wins in Conference play en route to earning the program’s first-ever regular-season Championship banner. During her first 10 years as head coach, she’s has compiled a 188-120 record, which includes five appearances in the CCAA playoffs and three in the NCAA West Regionals.
