WALNUT CREEK — UC San Diego had a conference-high seven players named to the California Collegiate Athletic Association’s (CCAA) All-Conference softball team that was announced on Thursday morning at the 2014 Softball Championships banquet in Stockton, Calif.

Cal State Monterey Bay placed five individuals on the All-CCAA team, while Humboldt State, Sonoma State, and Cal State San Bernardino each had four players honored. Cal State East Bay named three players followed by San Francisco State and Chico State with two players.  Cal State Dominguez Hills and Cal State Stanislaus each named one to this year’s All-Conference team.

The Tritons led all teams with four First team selections – sophomores pitcher Alexis Edwards, sophomore outfielders’ Callie Grant and Amani Proctor, as well as senior utility player Caitlin Brown. Regular-season Champion Cal State Monterey Bay followed right behind with three First team picks – freshman first baseman Madison Casto, junior utility player Cori Reinhardt, and sophomore designated player Bianca Noriega.

Cal State Monterey Bay’s Reinhardt was tabbed this season’s Most Valuable Player, while Sonoma State sophomore pitcher Amanda Llerena was selected the Most Valuable Pitcher. Cal State San Bernardino’s Nicole Nobbe was named Newcomer of the Year, Humboldt State’s Tiffany Hollingsworth as Freshman of the Year, and Otters’ head coach Andrea Kenney was selected as the 2014 Coach of the Year.

Reinhardt contributed offensively and from the circle for the Otters.  She heads into the weekend’s Conference tournament with a .342 average and a .553 slugging percentage with 26 hits, four doubles, 4 home runs, and 20 RBI. From the circle, Reinhardt has a second-best ERA of .181 in Conference play.  She also snagged 12 complete-game wins and four saves in 17 starts and has allowed just 28 earned runs on 76 hits in 108 innings of work.

Llerena has had a stellar season with the Seawolves, finishing regular-season play with a 22-11 overall record and 14 wins in Conference play.  She ranks first in eight categories — appearances (27), games started (24), wins (14), innings pitched (159.1), strikeouts (119), batters faced (583), and ERA (1.80).

Senior transfer from Cypress College, Nicole Nobbe hit a Conference-best .500 average and  a .667 slugging percentage with 81 hits, 22 doubles, 36 RBI, and 18 walks during conference play.

Hollingsworth is the second ‘Jacks player to be named Freshman of the Year in as many years.  During her rookie campaign she earned CCAA Player of the Week three times, while ranking second in hits (78) and doubles (21), third in runs batted in (47) and ranks among the top ten with nine home runs.

Kenney earned her second CCAA Coach of the Year nod after guiding the Otters to a record-breaking 44 regular-season wins for an overall record of 44-7, including 25-6 in conference play.
