SAN RAMON – Cal State East Bay senior Shannon Bland was named the California Collegiate Athletic Association Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Jan. 4-10.

The guard from Ellensburg, Washington was outstanding for the Pioneers this past weekend, leading East Bay to a road sweep at Cal State San Marcos and Cal State LA. With the victories, the Pioneers extend its win streak to 11 games and improve its unblemished CCAA record to 7-0.

Bland led all scorers in both games, tipping off the weekend with a career-high 25 points in Friday's 57-50 win over the Cougars. She hit nine-of-15 attempts from the floor, including three from the arch, and four-of-five attempts from the free throw line. She also snagged five rebounds and dished out an assist.

The following night, in a narrow two-point victory over the Golden Eagles, Bland notched her third 20-points game of the season. She came up big in the final minutes of the game, sinking her final field goal of the night with just 11 seconds remaining in regulation to secure a 65-63 win.

On the weekend, Bland averaged 22.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.5 steals.
