Opposing hitters spent four seasons searching for answers to Samantha Lipperd's overpowering presence in the circle, as the Sonoma State standout built one of the most decorated pitching careers in conference history. During her remarkable career (2010-13), Lipperd established herself as one of the most accomplished pitchers ever to compete in the conference, helping lead the Seawolves to consistent postseason success while rewriting both school and conference record books.
 
A two-time All-American and back-to-back CCAA Pitcher of the Year (2012 and 2013), Lipperd emerged as one of the nation's premier pitchers in NCAA Division II. Her 2012 season was one of the finest in Sonoma State history, as she struck out a school-record 396 batters, the fourth-highest single-season total in CCAA history. She followed that performance by earning West Region Pitcher of the Year honors in 2013, cementing her reputation as one of the country's elite competitors.
 
Lipperd's place in conference history is reflected throughout the CCAA record book, where she remains listed 17 times, over a decade after throwing her final pitch. She concluded her career with 1,090 strikeouts, the second-highest total in conference history, while ranking fourth all-time with 101 career victories. Across 941.2 innings pitched, she compiled a sparkling 1.61 earned run average, recorded 39 shutouts, and threw six no-hitters! Her dominance helped her establish 22 Sonoma State pitching records, many of which still stand today. 
 
Lipperd's dominance was evident not only across entire seasons but also in individual performances. She set the conference record with 26 strikeouts in 2012 against Hawaii Pacific, and also ranks seventh with 17 strikeouts in a game. Those 26 strikeouts set the NCAA Div. II record at the time. She was equally dependable throughout her career, finishing with 110 complete games in 162 appearances and serving as the ace of the Seawolves' pitching staff for four seasons.
 
Beyond her individual achievements, Lipperd played a central role in one of the most successful stretches in Sonoma State softball history. The Seawolves advanced to the NCAA postseason in each of her four seasons, including conference tournament championships in 2010 and 2011. Her leadership and competitive drive helped establish Sonoma State as a consistent regional contender. Lipperd earned the Sonoma State Female Athlete of the Year honors for three consecutive years, from 2011-13.
 
A walk-on who developed into one of the most dominant pitchers in Division II softball, Lipperd exemplified the determination and excellence that define the CCAA's finest student-athletes. Through her record-setting performances, conference honors, and sustained excellence in the circle, she secured a legacy that extends far beyond Sonoma State. Her accomplishments rank among the finest ever achieved by a CCAA softball student-athlete and place her among the most accomplished pitchers in conference and NCAA Division II history.
