Cecilia Barnes was a two-time CCAA Track and Field Athlete of the Year (2005, 2006), 2005-06 CCAA Athlete of the Year, 2006 West Region Field Athlete of the Year, 2006 USTFCCCA Indoor and Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year during her three years with Cal State Bakersfield women's track and field program. 

From 2004-06 the seven-time All-American snagged five National titles, in the discus, hammer throw, shot put and the indoor weight throw. 

In her final season with the Roadrunners she became the first thrower in Division II and just the second across all Divisions to win three-consecutive National titles in-the discus. 

Barnes still holds the CCAA record in the discus (191-10). She also remains second in Cal State Bakersfield program history in the hammer throw (193-6), seventh in the shot put (48-0), second in the 20-Lb weight throw (63-2) and 10th in javelin (126-4).
