Kathy Welter finished her 26-year stint with the Cal State Bakersfield softball program with a 1129-573-7 overall record, which included 11 Conference titles and NCAA Championship titles in 1988, 1989, and 1990.

Prior to the program’s transition to Division I, Welter compiled a .704 (369-155) winning percentage, earning the CCAA Coach of the Year plaque in 1988, 1990, 1994, 1998, and 2006.

She was a four-time National Fastpitch Coaches’ Association West Region Coach of the Year and was named the NFCA National Coach of the Year in 1998 and 1990.

Off the field, she devoted her time to a number of athletics fundraising activities, while also serving on the NCAA Softball Rules Committee and All-America Selection Committee.

Currently Welter’s overall win record ranks 17th all-time in NCAA history and places her fifth in the NCAA Division II record book.
