John Scolinos led the Cal Poly Pomona baseball team to Conference crowns in 1976, 1979, 1980, 1985, 1986 and NCAA Division II titles in 1976, 1980, and 1983 during his 30 years as head coach.

Scolinos was named CCAA Coach of the Year five times and was a three-time NCAA Division II Coach of the Year.

In his 44 years as a head coach he accumulated 1,198 victories, placing him sixth in NCAA Division II baseball history. With the Broncos he posted an overall record of 822-736.

The home of the Broncos was renamed Scolinos Field in 1987.
