Tyler Vanneste of Cal State San Bernardino has been named the FloCollege/CCAA Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the first week of the 2025 season.
Vanneste hit .583 with a .667 on-base percentage and two four-RBI games to help lead Cal State San Bernardino to a series win over Azusa Pacific. The senior infielder finished the weekend going 7-for-12 and reached safely in 10-for-15 plate appearances, totaling three doubles, a home run, nine RBI, four runs scored, and a stolen base.
In the season opener on Friday at Azusa Pacific, the Warman, Saskatchewan native went 2-for-4 with two doubles and four RBI. He gave the Coyotes the lead with a go-ahead, two-run double in the fourth inning, and CSUSB never trailed en route to a 12-4 win.
In Saturday's opener, his RBI-double tied the game at 1-1 in the fifth. CSUSB would drop the game 2-1 for its only loss in the series.
Vanneste saved his best for the series finale, where he went 4-for-5 with two runs scored, a home run, and four RBI. His home run came in the eighth inning with CSUSB trailing by one and the series tied at 1-1. Vanneste connected on his 1-1 pitch and drove it over the center field wall to bring in the tying and go-ahead runs.
Vanneste is tied with Hayden Tregidga of Cal State San Marcos for the conference lead with nine RBI. He also leads the CCAA in OPS (1.750 OBP%) and is second in average (.583).
