JJ Engman Award Player of the Week Week Of 3/4/2024 Sport Baseball School Cal State Monterey Bay Year Senior Position Catcher/Outfielder Hometown Renton, Wash. High School O’Dea HS JJ Engman of Cal State Monterey Bay collected 13 hits in the series as he’s bene named CCAA Baseball Player of the Week award, for the week of Feb. 26-March 3. Engman batted an impressive .650 with a 1.882 OPS (1.200 slugging and .682 on-base percentages). He went 13-for-20, with three home runs and two triples, drove in seven runs and scored 11 times. Engman also walked once, was hit by a pitch and stole a base. The senior outfielder from Renton, Wash., started the week going 4-for-4 in the Otters’ 14-13 loss to Cal Poly Pomona. He belted two dingers and drove in three runs. He reached base in all six plate appearances including a walk and was hit by a pitch. Engman then went 3-for-5 and 5-for-6 in games two and three, adding another bomb in game one of Sunday’s doubleheader. In the series finale, he went 1-for-5 with a two-run double to cap the great weekend. In all, the Otters scored 55 runs – 33 in Sunday’s twinbill – to win the series 3-1 over Cal Poly Pomona. This is Engman’s first career CCAA Player of the Week award and CSUMB’s second this season.
