Leading the Pioneers’ offensively, Francisco Pedraza has snagged this week’s Baseball Player of the Week award, for the week of April 18-24.

Pedraza, Cal State East Bay’s outfielder, batted .353, going 6-for-17, with two home runs and drove in six runs as the Pioneers swept Cal State Dominguez Hills. The leadoff batter also had a .353 on-base percentage and a .765 slugging percentage.

The sweep kept Cal State East Bay in the race for a CCAA Baseball Tournament berth. Cal State East Bay won three of the four games by one run and had a three-run margin in Friday’s opener in Hayward.

The senior from Alameda had a hit in each game of the series, highlighted by a 3-for-4 game in the second game on Saturday. He hit a dinger, drove in two runs, scored once and stole a base in that game, a 3-2 win.

Pedraza also homered in game one on Saturday, giving him a two-homer day. He drove in three runs in the 5-4 CSUEB victory. As the right-fielder, Pedraza recorded nine putouts without an error.
