Chico State outfielder Grady Morgan is the latest Wildcat to earn a baseball weekly award as he’s been selected as this week’s Player of the Week.

Morgan batted .667, going 12-for-18, to lead the Wildcats to a 3-1 series win at Cal State LA last weekend. Morgan, who is from Laguna Beach, posted a .889 slugging percentage and .700 on-base percentage.

Morgan had at least two hits in each game of the series to finish with 12 hits. He had two hits to start the series on Friday, three hits in game two including a double, went 4-for-5 in the second game of Saturday and capped a spectacular weekend with three more hits in Sunday’s finale to extend his hitting streak to 13 games. He also homered, walked and was hit by a pitch in Sunday’s game.

The sophomore now ranks second in the CCAA in batting average (.413), eighth in on-base percentage (.468) and 10th in slugging (.579).

Morgan is the fourth different Chico State Wildcat to earn a player of the week award this season. He followed previous winners Willie Lajoie, Kyle Dobson and Jeffrey Ray.
