SAN RAMON, Calif. – After finishing atop the podium in his first race as a Bronco, Cal Poly Pomona junior Alejandro Ambrosio takes home the first CCAA Runner of the Week honors in 2018, for the week of Aug. 27-Sept. 2.

Ambrosio, a North Hollywood native and newcomer to the Broncos by way of Glendale CC, got his Cal Poly Pomona career off to a shiny start, flying through the six-kilometer Redlands Invitational course to win the race and lead the 25th-ranked Broncos to a first place finish out of seven teams Saturday morning in Redlands. Ambrosio crossed the finish line at 19:09.5, a full four seconds ahead of runner-up Tucker Cargile from Redlands. It is the first individual title for a CPP men's runner since Sept. 1, 2017.

The Broncos next take to the course on Sept. 22, at the Coyote Challenge hosted by San Bernardino. The meet will be a chance to preview the 2018 CCAA Cross Country Championships course.
