Skowrup, Wampler Repeat as CCAA Weekly Award Winners

SAN RAMON, Calif. — With back-to-back selections for both, Chico State’s Karli Skowrup and Robyn Wampler of UC San Diego have been picked as California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week for April 16-23.
 
CCAA Softball Player of the Week
Chico State second baseman Karli Skowrup delivered another outstanding performance as the CCAA-leading and No. 3-ranked Wildcats swept a four-game set in Arcata against Humboldt State. Skowrup hit safely in all four contests, batting .500 (7-for-14) with three extra-base hits including a homerun in the second game of the series.

Skowrup also drove in seven runs while scoring six times and posting a .588 on-base percentage and .929 slugging percentage  as Chico State improved to 43-3 overall and 33-3 in CCAA play. Skowrup currently leads the CCAA in runs batted in (54) and extra base hits (22), while ranking third among all CCAA hitters in home runs (11) and slugging percentage (.683).

Next up, the Wilcats take on San Francsico State in a four-game series to close the regular season slate. Already locked into the No. 1 seed, Chico State is riding an 18-game winning streak and currently sits in third in the NCAA.

CCAA Softball Pitcher of the Week
Freshman Robyn Wampler was again phenomenal from the circle, throwing two shutouts in three complete-game efforts at Cal State Monterey Bay. The Berkeley native posted a 0.00 ERA after giving up just 1 unearned run over 21 innings as she recorded three victories on the weekend lifting the Tritons to second place in the CCAA standings.

Wampler struck out 17 while scattering eight hits, seven of those singles. The Otters manages just a .111 batting average against lefty.

UC San Diego closes out the regular season on the road at Cal State Dominguez Hills. First pitch from Carson is scheduled for Friday at 1 p.m.
