SAN RAMON, Calif. — After defending his individual title at the CSUSM Fujikura Invitational, Cal State Monterey Bay’s Elis Svard has been named the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Golfer of the Week for Jan. 31 - Feb. 6.

Svard, a sophomore from Sodertalje, Sweden, carded a 54-hole total of 209 (-7), one stroke ahead of 36-hole leader Chris Tuulik of Cal State San Marcos. For Svard, the individual victory is the second of his collegiate career with the first also coming at the Shadow Ridge Country Club course.

Firing on all cylinders heading into the spring slate, Svard has played his last nine rounds at 23-under par, good for runner-up finishes in October’s Interwest Wildcat Classic and Otter Invitational to go along with this week’s medalist honors.

Now, the Otters will be enjoy a month away from competition, returning to action at the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout Mar. 5–6 at Hiddenbrooke Golf Club in Vallejo.
