Bergen Benedict Claims CCAA Golfer of the Week Honors Feb 28, 2018 SAN RAMON, Calif. — After finishing in a tie for first individually and pacing her team to second, Cal State San Marcos golfer Bergen Benedict has been named California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Golfer of the Week for Feb. 21-27. The junior from Turlock carded a 1-over 73 for consecutive rounds to finish tied for first with Cal Baptist’s Yifei Wang with a two-round total of 2-over 146. The individual title came down to a playoff hole which Wang birdied the par-5 18th while Benedict picked up a par. Benedict rolled in 28 pars in her 36 holes of action, carding the second highest par tally of the California Baptist Lancer Golf Joust held at the Goose Creek Golf Club. As a team, Benedict’s score helped the Cougars to second, six shots back from the host Lancers.
