Paul Doan, Lane Andrews Selected as CCAA Track and Field Athletes of the Week Feb 27, 2018 SAN RAMON, Calif. — A pair of seniors - Paul Doan of UC San Diego and Lane Andrews of Chico State - opened up the 2018 track and field season to individual success en route to earning California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) weekly acclaim for the span of Feb. 17-26. CCAA Men’s Track Athlete of the Week Senior Paul Doan swept the sprints and anchored the fastest 4x100 relay in each of UC San Diego's first two meets of the 2018 season. At the Pomona-Pitzer Collegiate All Comers Meet in Claremont on Feb. 17, he won the 100-meter dash in 10.52, besting his school record time by one one-hundredth and earning the NCAA provisional “B” qualifying mark. The San Diego native then outpaced the competition in the 200 in 21.54, and also anchored the first-place 4x100 relay tho a time of 41.29 to make it three wins in three races that day. On Feb. 24 at CSUSM's Mangrum Invitational, Doan led his Tritons to a comfortable victory over the host Cougars, 111-67. He clocked in at 10.82 in the 100, 22.00 in the 200, and 41.31 in anchoring the 4x100 relay, all wins. 2018 CCAA Men’s Track Athlete of the Week Feb. 17-26 Paul Doan, UC San Diego CCAA Mens’ Field Athlete of the Week The reigning CCAA champion, Lane Andrews won the decathlon at the 33rd annual Chico Multi Classic with an NCAA Provisional mark of 6,611 points. He won the long jump (6.69 meters) and high jump (1.83) portions of the event, and placed second in the 100, 1,500, pole vault and javelin. Despite cold and blustery conditions not conducive to high marks, Andrews beat out a handful of teammates that included Randall LeBlanc, who also had an NCAA Provisional mark of 6,565 points, and topped four Humboldt State competitors and three unattached entrants for the individual victory. .
