Seniors Kelsi Maday and Haley Gilham Garner Weekly Honors
SAN RAMON, Calif. — A pair of seniors - Kelsi Maday of UC San Diego and Chico State’s Haley Gilham - helped their respective teams to impressive weekends in league play en route to California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Player and Pitcher of the Week for Feb. 12-19.
CCAA Softball Player of the Week
Maday, a senior outfielder for UC San Diego, went a combined 9-for-13 with two home runs, a double, a triple, three RBI, four runs scored and four stolen bases as the Tritons split four games with No. 5-ranked Humboldt State.
Maday got UC San Diego off to a good start to the weekend, going 6-for-7 with a home run, a triple and three stolen bases to help the Tritons sweep the first two games on Friday. The senior from Napa, Calif., currently ranks second in the conference in runs scored (15) and is tied for first in stolen bases (11).
Next up, the Tritons host Cal State San Marcos for a four-game weekend series. Friday’s first pitch is slated for 3 p.m.

CCAA Softball Pitcher of the Week
Gilham, a senior from Norco, Calif., was nearly unhittable in posting two shutout victories in Chico State's four-game sweep of Cal State San Marcos. All told, Gilham allowed no runs and just three hits in 14 innings of work, striking out 20 and holding Sam Marcos batters to a .067 batting average.
In Friday's series opener, Gilham scattered a pair of hits over seven shutout innings and fanned nine on the way to a 3-0 victory. She did even better on Saturday, allowing just a bad-hop single and striking out 11 to record her fourth shutout and sixth complete game of the season as the Wildcats blanked the Cougars 4-0.
Gilham, now 7-0 on the season, tops all CCAA pitchers in strikeouts (42), complete games, shutouts, and opponent batting average (.113), and is among the conference leaders in wins and earned run average (0.63).
Sitting at 13-0 and one of 10 undefeated teams remaining in NCAA Division II, the Wildcats host Cal State East Bay this weekend looking to extend the streak. First pitch from Chico is scheduled for Friday at 12 p.m.
