Linnea Karlsson Claims Women's Golfer of the Week Honors
SAN RAMON, Calif. – Cal State Monterey Bay’s Linnea Karlsson has been selected as the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Women’s Golfer of the Week for the week of Sept. 21-27.
The junior from Akersberga, Sweden, led the Otters to the team title at the inaugural California Bays Invitational after earning medalist honors at the event. In its first season as a CAAA-sponsored sport, Karlsson now stands as the first female golfer in conference history to win an individual tournament title.
Karlsson, a 2017 National Championship qualifier, carded a two-round total of 73-75–148 (+4) to claim the win at Corral de Tierra Country Club. Paced by Karlsson’s performance, Cal State Monterey Bay eased to a 9-stroke victory over Academy of Art, with a 28-stroke margin over third-place Sonoma State.
Karlsson and the Otters return to action Oct. 2–3 at the Dixie State Invitational in Hurricane, Utah.
