Cougars' Sarah Garcia Selected as CCAA Women's Golfer of the Week
SAN RAMON, Calif. - Cal State San Marcos junior
Sarah Garcia was selected as the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Women’s Golfer of the Week for the week of Sept. 14 through Sept. 20.
Garcia finished in ninth place at the Skyhawk West Regional Preview this week, as she totaled a 7-over 149. She helped the Cougars earn third place overall.
CSUSM posted a 19-over 303 on Tuesday and finished with a two-round total of 36-over 604, just two shots behind second place West Texas A&M.
In Tuesday’s action, Garcia shot even on the front nine including a birdie on the eighth hole. During the opening round on Monday, she carded a 1-over 72.
CSUSM returns to action on Sept. 25 at the Western New Mexico Fall Intercollegiate in Goodyear, Ariz.
