Alex Wallach Earns Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week Honor
SAN RAMON, Calif. - Cal State Monterey Bay senior Alex Wallach has been selected as the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week for the week of Sept. 4 through Sept. 10.
A Diamond Bar, Calif., native, Wallach placed fifth out of 47 runners at the Humboldt State Invitational. Leading a 5-6-7 finish for the Otters, he helped the team capture the No. 1 spot overall for the program’s first meet win since 2005.
"We have a lot of new faces, young faces, but today they ran with one face: Cal State Monterey Bay," CSUMB head coach Greg Rhines said after Saturday’s race.
Wallach crossed the line in 25:50.59, marking a personal best by nearly 20 seconds.
Up next, the Otters travel to San Bernardino on Sept. 23 for the Coyote Challenge.
